Kuwait Tourist Attractions

Carmarthenshire lies in West Wales and has a diverse landscape. Beaches which seem to go on forever give way to rolling hills in the north of the county. This is an area where you are likely to hear Welsh spoken as over half the populace speak it, many as a first language.

Its attractions are many and varied. Here are some of the best:

1. National Botanical Gardens of Wales

The Garden of Wales, which opened in 2000, covers 568 acres and features, at its centre, the Great Glasshouse, the largest single span glasshouse in the world. Dedicated to the protection of plants from all over the world, there is a specific section which covers Wales’ most endangered flora.

2. Laugharne

Laugharne has been inhabited since the Bronze age, but came to prominence in the 13th Century when the invading Normans built a castle here. The town also boasts a 13th Century church, St Martin’s. Famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas spent a great deal of time at Laugharne and visitors can see the Boathouse where he worked. It is thought that his famous play Under Milkwood is based on Laugharne and its inhabitants.

3. National Wetlands Centre Wales

Run by the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust, (WWT), the National Wetlands Centre Wales gives visitors a chance to view wildlife in an unusual and endangered habitat. The Centre is home to a diverse range of wildlife, from dragonflies to wading birds to birds of prey. Younger twitchers can have fun in the tunnels of water vole city.
