Kelowna has long been a popular British Columbia destination for its sunny summers by Okanagan Lake and winter skiing at Big White Resort. The same weather conditions that have allowed orchards to flourish here are excellent for growing grapes, as well. Kelowna wineries have won awards and are great for touring and tasting. Many Kelowna wineries offer fabulous restaurants, spas, and even wine-making to go along with the whites and reds. Anyone doing some BC travel would enjoy a Kelowna winery tour.
Kelowna Wineries
There are at least 13 wineries in Kelowna itself, and more than 60 in the Okanagan valley, extending north to Vernon and south to Osoyoos. Vernon is less than an hour's drive from Kelowna, and Osoyoos can be reached in less than two hours. There are enough Kelowna wineries to keep any wine taster busy, but if a winery in either direction is of interest, it can be easily be made part of a day tour, too.
