One of Italy’s most important wine producing regions is in the north central part of the peninsula, just east of Lake Garda.
Valpolicella Wine Area
Called Valpolicella, it lies just northwest of the city of Verona, bordered to the west by the Adige River and to the north by the Lessinia mountain range.
The classic agricultural zone – wines produced here have the words Valpolicella Classico on the label – comprises five small towns. They are Negrar, San Pietro in Cariano, Marano, Fumane, and Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella.
